When I got the email with the description of the book up for review, I hesitated. It’s a thriller with a romantic twist, and ever since becoming a mom, I’ve really had trouble reading thrillers. I have too active an imagination, and I can too easily ‘imagine’ all sorts of bad things. I decided the book sounded far too appealing to pass up.

Twisted by best-selling author Laura Griffin is the latest book in her Tracers series, and it fits in so seamlessly to today’s modern social media world.

Motive, opportunity, and no alibi—it seems close to a slam-dunk. But while rookie detective Allison Doyle’s department has ID’d a suspect in a young woman’s vicious murder, she is uneasy. Then legendary FBI profiler Mark Wolfe shows up with a startling theory: if he’s right, the real murderer is an elusive psychopath just days away from another kill.

Using Allison’s contacts at the Delphi Center crime lab, Wolfe is finally in striking distance of the monster he’s pursued for ten years. Except that as they work together, Wolfe finds the ambitious, stubborn woman a tempting distraction. And with this brutal predator, every thread of evidence can make the difference between being the hunter . . . and the prey.

Sounds chilling right? It certainly was. I started the book right before dinner time the day after I received it, and if I hadn’t had to get up the next morning I would have stayed up all night reading it to the end. As it was, I finished it the next morning. While reading Twisted, I got chills. The characters make some excellent points about social media and just how much information we leave hanging out there for potential crazy murders to get a hold of. It had me rethinking exactly what I say on the internet!

Twisted is an excellent, fast paced read that I couldn’t put down. I think I have many long nights ahead as I work my way through the entire Tracers series. Twisted is available at major retailers and online. I was given a copy of the book to complete my review, but the opinion expressed is my own.
