There are things I love about our house; kitchen, and things I don’t love about our house; family room, dining room, lack-of-a-drop-zone-room. The biggest issue is trying to make what I have work to achieve the look I want. I need serious ideas for getting our family room under some sort reasonable theme. It’s a bit chaotic. We’ve also added a buttery yellow chair into the space on the left by the fireplace. It’s not my favorite chair and it’s not particularly pretty, but it needed a home and the family room is where it ended up. Not pictured are the curtains which are a light brownish color. The family room is open to the kitchen: These two rooms have to coordinate…
As I said last time, I haven’t blogged recently. The reasons listed are true and so is this; there are no curtains on the office window, which sits in the very front of the house, facing the street, and everyone can totally look right in. Normally, not a big deal right? But since my blog time was during my morning coffee (for which I am hardly dressed to show off my ten year old sleep t-shirt and super cute blue stretched out yoga pants), I haven’t blogged much since we moved. I know, hang curtains you say right? I did. They promptly fell out of the wall with a bang and the only thought that went through my mind was to take the hammer…
Another room I’ve been putting some thought into is the laundry room at the new house. It’s on the second floor, which is new for me. Previously we’ve had the laundry in the basement (both finished and unfinished) and next to the kitchen. There are good and bad to each of these laundry rooms. When the laundry has been in the basement, firstly you’ve got to contend with spiders, and bugs, and a dark creepy space, and the fact that if it’s all the way down there, you probably are very likely to forget you were doing laundry in the first place. (Not that that has ever happened to me or anything.) When the laundry has been off the kitchen, it has been…
Lately, I’ve been house dreaming and trying to figure out one room in particular. The dining room. What color should the walls be? Should we get a new table (yes please!)? A new rug? Today the kids and I trekked over to Lowes, for fun, to look at paint and rugs. When you add the items we found to the furiture I’d love to have I think the room will come together nicely. If we actually get to buy any of it anyway. The proposed wall color: Maybe the magic fairies will deliver all these wonderful things to my house. If you are the magic fairy, let me know, I’ll leave out some cookies. I found this video awhile ago…
